TEDX Talk Inclusive Leadership

Last year, I had the honour to deliver a TEDx Talk to our future leaders about the importance of Inclusive Leadership in today's world!

Did you know that 1 out of 4 of people at work feel excluded? This can be you, this can be a person on your team or someone else in your department.

1 out of 4 is not just a disheartening number on a human level (because we are all hardwired to feel part of a group) but it's also problematic on a company level because those who feel excluded at work have a higher chance to:
- get into sick leave
- underperform
- leave the company

45% of inclusion at work is defined by someone's direct leader. Inclusive Leadership should be the default and companies should hold their leaders accountable for this.

I always give 3 tips to start practicing Inclusive Leadership as of today - I call them the 3 C's:
1. Be Curious - Talk less, listen more so you can learn, unlearn and relearn about the realities of those colleagues from historically excluded groups.
2. Be Courageous - Speak up when you see disrespectful behavior and set a clear culture bar of ''what good looks like''.
3. Be Consistent - Inclusive Leadership is not something you can do part-time. It requires work, day in - day out.
